7 Content Resolutions to Set for 2022

12/03/21

Content Planning

In our last blog post, we looked back on 2021 and thought about what we’re thankful for. Like many of you out there, we’ve had a hell of a year and a little self-reflection did us some good. We highly recommend it if you haven’t done it yourself.

But if you have, now it’s time to do a 180 and think about the year ahead. What’s your content strategy looking like for 2022? If it’s looking stale, bare bones or, er, nonexistent, then keep on reading.

Be adventurous with your content

Always wanted to start your own podcast? Create your own YouTube videos? Nerd out and write a full length eBook? Launch a course?

Writing a year’s worth of blog posts, emails, and social media posts can start to feel a little stale. If you’re feeling the itch to try out a new form of content in 2022, we’re giving you the green light to do so.

…and put some old content to use

For our less adventurous content creators out there, we have a content resolution for you to try as well. Repurpose one of your old pieces of content

Turn one blog into a series of emails. Take one social media topic and expand it into a blog. Transform a TikTok into a downloadable infographic. See if you can build a webinar from your most popular FAQ.

Have a little fun

Creating content is hard work. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun!

Jump in on that TikTok challenge or trend (as long as it makes sense for your biz). Throw a GIF into the mix. Share other people’s content you’ve been loving. Talk about the people on your team for some fun behind-the-scenes sneak peeks.

Being a content creator means keeping the conversation going, too. So, talk to your audience! Reply to their comments. Share their photos or posts. See what’s trending. Ask them questions or answer some of theirs.

No need to stress too hard or overthink this one. Just give yourself permission to let loose and have a little fun.

Plan your next launch with care

Alright, fun’s over. (Kidding!) But seriously, if you’re launching a new product in 2022, quick reminder that you can, and should, set everyone on your team up for success by leading the charge.

That means, for example:

  • Figuring out what you’ll say and when on social media
  • Writing out a series of emails two weeks before you launch
  • Creating relevant blog posts, webinars, podcasts, or other pieces of content well before your launch

That does not mean:

  • Expecting your launch to be a wild success without planning ahead…and getting upset at your team when it doesn’t happen

We talk about preparing for a more successful launch in a separate blog post, so give that a look.

Own your sh*t

You do own your content, right? You’re not just uploading and sharing your hard work on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and TikTok? You’re housing it safely on your very own website?

If you’re not, you risk getting it censored, stolen, banned, or lost completely. You don’t have to quit social media entirely. Just don’t use social media as the primary space for your content.

Take care of yourself

If you’re not in the right headspace to create content, it’s probably gonna suck. And if it sucks, your content won’t help you reach your biz goals. And in turn, your business will likely suffer.

We don’t mean to bring the doom and gloom; rather, this is a reminder to take care of yourself first. We will always advocate caring for your mental health while creating content.

Yes, there are times when you have to tough it out and work through shitshow after shitshow. But it shouldn’t be like that 24/7, even if you’re running your biz solo. Just remember to check in with yourself, take breaks, ask for help, and let other people take over.

Quit procrastinating

One last thing if you’re a serial procrastinator: Go read this blog post of ours on how you can break the habit. Then, get to work. We mean it.
